GridLab WP-5

WP5: GridLab Testbed: Account Setup

Information needed by sites to setup an account

First, the new user needs a digital certificate signed by one of trusted CAs, which are listed in Testbed Certification Authorities document. Note that certificates signed by Globus CA are not valid.
Second, the new user must be accepted by at least one of the participating sites, which need additional information:

MU, Brno, Czech Republic:

First name, Last name, organization,
e-mail, phone, postal address
and to sign documents meta_prohl.en.pdf and eru_enduse.pdf

VU, Amsterdam, The Netherlands:

We would like these as well, but in addition we would like a reference to a known GridLab participant, typically from the local institute, who can vouch for the new user. We then have some way to check the validity of requests.

AEI, Golm/Potsdam, Germany

The same information and to sign declaration.ps

ZIB, Berlin, Germany

  • for kiwi, onyx1 and onyx3, we want to follow the rules of the VU Amsterdam
  • for the HLRN, our big iron, we need to apply for resources dedicated for gridlab. The machine is new, the application process is not yet in place. We will do that early next year.
If we got the CPU hours, each user needs to sign some paper to get an account.
Also, ZIB will not give accounts to some arbitrary large amount of GridLab members, but only to those who have an specific issue to work on this machine, and for demonstrations etc.

LRZ, Munich, Germany

At LRZ, you need to apply for a regular account on the SR8000. This can be done via a web form. Only researchers in GERMANY can get an account (or they have to collaborate with a German university). The best way to go is to ask your German collaborators (i.e., AEI) to give you an account on the SR8000. They can then add you to their "official project" at LRZ. As far as LRZ is concerned, AEI is then responsible for everything the account holder does and consumed computer time is deducted from their project allocation!
After an account has been granted, you have to contact heller@lrz.de and he will enter your DN into their grid-mapfile.

ISUFI/HPCC, Lecce, Italy:

Send a fax to +39 0832 320279 attention to the director Giovanni Aloisio and describe why you need an account.

PSNC, Poznan, Poland:

First name, Last name, organization,
e-mail, phone, postal address
Nothing to sign

IMI, Politechnika Czestochowska, Czestochowa, Poland:

For testbed purposes we accept everyone in the gridlab mapfile.

SZTAKI, Budapest, Hungary:

First name, Last name, organization,
e-mail, phone, postal address
and a reference to the administrator of the machine, from which the user wishes to connect. This must be one of the machines in testbed. We need this information so we can open the firewall from that direction.
