The presentations of the WorkShop are now linked into the
Agenda section below!
The EPCC and the EU funded projects GridStart and GridLab invite
participation in a 3-day workshop on "Grid Applications
Programming" on July 2004 19-21.
The WorkShop will bring together application programmers who
are interested in enhancing their applications to make use of
Grid capabilities; and Grid middleware developers who want to
make their middleware services available to the wider scientific
application community.
The workshop will particularly target the application and
middleware developers from the EU 5th Framework Grid projects
clustered by GridStart as well as other Grid initiatives. This
will be a good opportunity to consider a wide variety of Grid
use-cases; and to help new projects reuse existing components
for their work.
As preparation for the workshop, we encourage the
submission of use cases from YOUR project. This will allow
us to tailor the workshop to your specific application
requirements.
A large part of the workshop will be devoted to presentations,
tutorials and discussions of the Grid Application Toolkit (GAT).
The GAT is an API developed by the EU GridLab project to support
the development or porting of applications to Grid environments.
The GridLab project seeks to enhance the GAT user community in
cooperation with the GridStart projects and others, and also
seeks feedback on the scope and specification of the GAT API,
which will be used to revise the API to better suite the needs
of a larger class of applications. This feedback will also be
supplied to the new SAGA-RG in the GGF, whose purpose is to
investigate and develop a standard API for enabling high-level
applications to use Grid technologies.
Target audience
- Programmers of scientific applications
- Grid middleware developers
